Wheat Straw Substrate
Straw Is Everywhere
If you ever worked with straw know it is straw here, straw there, and you might even find some straw in your pockets the next day. Urban farmers used to say the only way to get rid of the mess left behind by straw is to never use straw in the first place. But not anymore, we solved this problem by turning this messy mayhem into convenient pellets that can be rehydrated with a little water. The nightmare is over, no more finding small bits of straw weeks or months after its initial use. Despite best cleaning efforts regular straw just doesn’t seem to go away but fret not because our Wheat Straw substrate is as mess free as you want it be. Plus, you will no longer have to deal with punctured plastic, excessive air pockets, or storage for hay bales. Our Wheat Straw substrate is straw substrate made easy without straw’s forever mess.
But as messy as it may be, straw is one of the most widely used substrates by expert growers from around world. Straw is everywhere, in abundance, and easy to obtain making it the go-to substrate for many mushroom growers. Straw is the natural by-product of the agricultural industry and consists of the dry stalks of grain, cereal, and wheat plants. The straw is what remains of the plants after the grain and chaff have been removed. Hay, though extremely similar to straw, is by-product of open field clearing and contains a mix of plants, grasses and weeds usually found growing in a meadow or field. Growing mushrooms makes very good use of entire grain, cereal, and wheat plants reducing your overall carbon footprint. Grain, wheat, and cereals are often used to spawn mycelium and the rest of the plant can be made into an amazingly effective Wheat Straw substrate that produces humungous mushrooms.
Our straw is as clean as straw can get, never touches the ground after it leaves the farm, and is stored inside our climate controlled facility while waiting to be processed. Before reaching our facility the straw starts its journey in Ontario, Canada on expansive farms with machines the size of regular houses. From there the grains are harvested, separated, and prepared for immediate transport. The super messy straw truck then delivers the bales to our facility where the straw goes straight indoors and emerges as a convenient and mess free substrate that provides maximum utility and produces magnificent results. We implement strict production standards to maintain the highest levels of quality for every process to create the cleanest substrate. Our Wheat Straw substrate is easy to work with and produces consistently big results without straw’s forever mess.
