Soy Hull Substrate
 Fresh From The Farm
This is one of the most wholesome substrates that you can use to grow gargantuan clusters of delicious mushrooms. Soy Hulls are super food for mushrooms, which sounds strange but if you consider that mushrooms eat trees than it begins to make sense. Soy Hulls contain so much nutrition and energy that farmers use it to feed their livestock. Mushrooms are well known for eating and breathing similar to other animals on the planet and separate from most other plants. Unlike most vegetation that use photosynthesis to survive, mushrooms get their nutrition from consuming dead biomass, they take in oxygen, and omit carbon dioxide. This is also the reason why scientists placed fungi in their own biological kingdom.
Once you start growing mushrooms it becomes very apparent the processes used are very similar to science experiences and less like traditional farming. Wearing a lab coat while growing mushrooms would not be considered inappropriate. In fact, to prevent contamination much of the initial work with spores, mycelium, and substrates should be completed in a sterile environment such as a laboratory or still air box. Adding mushrooms to your urban farm will not be typical but it is total intuitive as there are many paths you can take to achieve the same results. From the cultivation process to the flavor to the unusual amount of health benefits, there is nothing typical about mushrooms.
We formulated and created our organic substrates specifically for mushroom cultivation so you can hit the ground running. When you have the best raw materials available a successful harvest becomes easy to achieve. The soy hulls are formed into pellets for two main reasons; your convenience, and to get rid of any competing organisms during the production process. To use the dry Soy Hull Substrate pellets simply rehydrate to field capacity and mix with any wood substrate or use the rehydrated Soy Hull Substrate to make grain spawn. The results are the most deliciously healthy and truly organic mushrooms that you have grown at home. With pride comes pictures and social media posts so have your camera ready because once you eat your bountiful harvest of mushrooms they’re gone.
