Show someone you care by giving the gift of health as our mushroom blocks are great for Urban Farmers of all ages.
We produce substrates that are specifically designed for one purpose, mushroom cultivation. The production of our Blue Oyster mushroom blocks starts in our wood mill by processing maple tree logs into sawdust. The maple sawdust is mixed with generous amounts of soy hulls and placed into high quality 0.5 Micron Filter bags. Soy hulls provide your mushrooms with additional nutrition that is not found in wood resulting in huge and delicious mushrooms. The mushroom blocks are hydrated, placed in an autoclave, and sterilized for 2+ hours. Then we turn our attention towards producing the liquid cultures used to inoculate the mushroom blocks. The mushrooms blocks are allowed to cool down and then inoculated with Organic Blue Oyster grain spawn made with rye berries or whole oats.
All mycology work is completed in our laboratory with the use of laminar flow hoods. All Mushroom Blocks are sterilized, inoculated, sealed, and ready for cultivation. The hard work is done!
Instructions:
1. Place your mushroom block in a dark and peaceful area to begin colonization.
2. Wait until mycelium from the grain spawn has completely colonized your mushroom block.
3. Once colonization is complete, cut an “X” into the bag, and BOOM…mushrooms!
Important:
1. Exposing your mushrooms to mild ultra-violet light during the fruiting stage increases the production of vitamin D.
2. Allow 10-21 days for complete colonization and 7-10 days (fruiting stage) until mushrooms are ready to harvest.
3. One mushroom block will produce three consecutive harvests. Consecutive harvests will reduce in size.
4. Most mushroom species grow best in environments with mild temperatures and high humidity.
Blue Oyster Mushroom Blocks are available in boxes of 1 (single), 6 (six), and 12 (twelve). For further assistance and delivery options please contact us.

We ordered several Blue Oyster Mushroom Blocks and harvested more mushrooms than planned. We were happy to find out the blocks produce 3 big flushes of Blue Oysters. Plus, we found a free gift within our order. The folks at Capital Mushrooms are great!
